The image quality found on today's portable ultrasounds rivals many current console units, and surpasses many of those that cost more than $200,000 just a few years ago.
Additionally, for the full consoles or portable ultrsaounds, the costs of refurbished ultrasound equipment have dropped significantly in recent years, bolstered by the fact that competition on used ultrasound market market increases. Our take: if you're looking at refurbished ultrasound, make sure they have a service department and the salespeople actually know what they're talking about. If you're spending $10,000 or $100,000, doesn't it make sense to spend a couple extra dollars to ensure you're getting the correct machine and that it's refurbished properly? We've built a successful business on that model.
If you're looking to add ultrasound, this report confirms that it's going to continue to grow, and emerging markets continue to explode worldwide. We've found that for most physicians, it's an excellent additional revenue source in an increasingly more difficult market... and it's cheaper, easier, and takes less space than CT or MRI.
