Hi Jeff,

Regarding 3D/4D not working on your system, there are a number of things that could cause that to happen. First we'd need to know what you mean by "not working". I would need to know what is happening prior to the crash, or if there's anything that started happening before the failure.

For example, you could describe a situation in which the 4D acquisition begins, but never gets to the screen and jumps back to 2D... does the probe move back and forth? Is the screen blank? Does it appear to be working but nothing is showing on the screen? Is it simply poor image quality that you're not accustomed to?

It could be any of these, or none of these. If you describe the situation I would be happy to help you here.

Thanks!

3d/4d is not working properly any suggestions....everything else seems to work, this just started and is driving us crazy....could it be the settings?

Hi Brenda,

Lightning strikes can go deep into a system and cause a variety of errors. Something is happening within the system to cause corruption of your hard drive. I don't know of any issues in which the hard drive continually fails on the Volusons. Our experience is that they last 2-5 years... with 4 years being the average. you should definitely get this kind of mileage out of your hard drive.

It's hard to tell what could cause that problem. In the past, a lightning strike had caused a power supply to fail, but it sounds like your system is running just fine...meaning that it will boot and run without issue. Do you notice any problems prior to the hard drive crashing... system freeze-ups, very slow rendering times, long delays when going to SonoView, or seeing the hourglass for a long time when you boot the system? Or does it work great then just fail one day?

How many hard drives have been replaced? The other possible solution is that someone provided you with an old hard drive with bad sectors, which will cause the failure as well. Have you only had one replaced... and it only lasted one year?

Thanks
Brian

My machine worked fine until last april when it was hit by lightning.
That is when the hard drive was replaced, then about a month later it
was replaced again and the last time was in nov. It works just fine and then one day when I turn it on the hard drive has crashed.
I was told that it was just the nature of the voluson. But from what you are telling me the motherboard or power supply might be the culprit.

Thanks
Brenda

Hi Brenda,

I'm not sure how often yours is crashing, but most of ours in the field last 3-5 years without a problem. That's the nature of the hard drive. If your Voluson 730 hard drive is crashing often, there is likely another cause of the problem, which could be a motherboard, improper shut-down, or some other environmental factor such as the power supply or the electricity supplying the system.

If you could be more descriptive about the hard drive problem with the Voluson 730 ultrasound, I might be able to assist you. I'll post the comments on your Voluson 730 hard drive here on the site so others can benefit.

If you have an immediate problem, you could call us and speak with me or the service department at 866-347-7633.

Thanks!
